DANVERS, Massachusetts (October 12, 2012) — Roundy’s Supermarkets, Inc. has expanded it Scan Based Trading program with The Nexxus Group to include all of its banners — Pick ‘n Save, Metro Market, Copps Food Center and Mariano’s Fresh Market. One of the Midwest’s oldest and largest grocery chains, Roundy’s has successfully employed the The Nexxus Group Scan Based Trading solution with its 32 Rainbow Foods supermarkets in Minnesota since October 2010.

This launch expands service to 127 additional locations in WIsconsin and Illinois, bringing to 159 the number of Roundy’s stores utilizing the Nexxus program. Almost all are based in Wisconsin — Pick ‘n Save (93), Metro Market (26), Copps Foods Center (3). Additionally five Mariano’s Fresh Market sites are located in Illinois. Approximately 100 of Roundy’s supermarkets have in-store pharmacies.

Roundy’s history dates back to its 1872 founding in Milwaukee, WI as Smith, Roundy & Co. The company once operated as a major food distributor to independent grocery stores in the Midwest but abandoned wholesale operations to focus on its growing retail businesses. Industry veteran Robert A. Mariano has served as company President, CEO and Chairman since June 2002. The company went public in February of this year with an offering worth $163 million ($8.50 per share) and plans measured expansion in the Chicago area at the rate of four or five new stores annually for the next five years.

“We are excited about the efficiencies that our program will bring to Roundy’s Supermarkets,” says Jim Rao, Chairman and Founder of The Nexxus Group. “We look forward to working with such a growth-minded company with such a long and storied history.”
